Responsibilities
Serving as the point of contact and working collaboratively between military-connected students, their families, and the campus.
Maintaining familiarity with enrollment processes, records transfer, existing community resources, and student supports.
Ensuring military-connected students are identified and properly coded through the Texas Student Data System Public Education Information Management System (TSDS PEIMS).
Determining campus-based supports and services available to military-connected students based on their unique needs, including their high mobility.
Assisting in coordinating programs relevant to military-connected students.
Attending professional development or training annually to learn and understand topics related to the transition of military-connected students and their families.
The campus-based military liaison offers professional development opportunities for staff members on issues related to military-connected students.
Transitioning to CPCISD
During the first week of transitioning to Como-Pickton CISD a military-connected student can expect to receive a campus tour from our liaison and one of our current Como-Pickton Student Council Members. During lunch, new students will be joined by two of our Student Council Members for their first week of school to help answer questions and help them feel comfortable in their new community.
Parents can expect a phone call or email from our liaison welcoming them to the Eagle Community. During this time, please feel free to address any needs or concerns to help with the transition to CPCISD.
Throughout the course of the school, we will periodically meet with our Military Connected students. This will provide an opportunity to spend time with the liaison and build relationships with staff and students.
