Como-Pickton CISD is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This is a special provision that provides an alternative approach for offering school meals to schools that meet the qualifications as specified in the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act that allow ALL STUDENTS to eat a no cost breakfast and lunch without having to apply for free or reduced-priced meals.
CEP does not provide payment for a la carte items such as extras, chips, drinks, seconds. Students must have cash for the payment at the point of sale (POS) or they may utilize the online meal account.
Student Charging Policy 2024-2025:
Como-Pickton CISD Food Service Department has established a No Charge Policy. There will be absolutely NO CHARGING for students. All students will eat free in the cafeteria regardless of income. If a student refuses to take the required items for a reimbursable meal, the student will be charged A La Carte prices for each item. Parents/legal Guardians of the household will be responsible for those changes.
Parents in the household are responsible for providing funds for extras or snacks. They will need money in hand or on their lunch account. Funds can be added to School Cafe under the student’s ID number.
Teachers and school staff (not substitutes) are allowed to charge up to $75.00. We ask for the charges to be paid in full by Christmas break and by the end of school.
Meal policies can be viewed in policy manual at Como-Pickton CISD Board Policy Manual - Policy Online (tasb.org)
